is there a way to get faith on the heathens with yellow and/or red masks?

Re: the heathens - 12/31/10 08:45 PM
Yes, but they're not as easy as the blue ones.

Re: the heathens - 12/31/10 08:46 PM
Blue masks: You can "explain the truth" to convert them.
Purple masks: You can convert by completing specific tasks (some must be completed multiple times).
Yellow Masks: Can only be converted through special powers.
Red Masks: Can only be converted through special powers.
The Chief: Can be won over by completing 2 special tasks.

Red Masks: Can only be converted through special powers.
I tried that but they didn't convert?
What am I doing wrong?
(I tried it with Bee Swarm, Butterflies, and Lightning.)

Have you looked at the guide, VFlover?
Conversion isn't always instant, and maybe you aren't strong enough to sway them yet

Ohhhhhhhh, I guess I'm just gonna read up on the guide a little more.
Thanks!

You have to be pretty far into the game before you will have the special powers needed to convert the Red & Yellow masked heathens.

Re: the heathens - 01/01/11 10:12 AM
When will the blue ones convert. I have only gotten 2 to convert and I keep the light on over the head. The faith meter is directly in the middle but wont convert. Why?

Also have a question about the heathens.
The master builder ... I can't figure him out. I keep trying, but he's still a lot faster. Am I doing something wrong?

You have to use the time warp special ability on your believer before the build-off.

VFLover09, thank you. Thought I was doing something wrong. Guess I'll have to wait a little while longer.

If you click the Tech button you will see on the right side of the technology screen a "diagram" of God Powers. It looks like there are 11 possible God Powers. Perhaps you're needing one that you don't have yet.

Re: the heathens - 01/03/11 12:18 AM
Okay I have converted all the blues and the chief and the purples... now how do I get the yellows and the reds? That yellow mask kid is being really really really offensive. And I have all but one of the god powers, which I don't know if I can get unless you get it at 95 people but the game said I have 90 and that's the max sustainable pop.

Re: the heathens - 01/03/11 01:06 AM
Exactly, please tell me how to get the last group of Heathens (reds and yellows) to convert over. I have (and used) all the God Powers.
Tomorrow it's back to work/school, so I'd like to finish this up!
Had a BLAST playing this game though!!!
.... 10 minutes later: Aha!
Now that I put the fog over them, they have the little glow light over their heads!!! Funny, I tried the Earthquake, but didn't notice the glow light... hm? Maybe I just overlooked it. Oh well, I got it now!

Re: the heathens - 01/03/11 02:00 AM
Hmmm Zia...
The Earthquake worked for me. All the yellows and reds are in the 'filthy' encampment' and those glows are glowing like fireflies. But I'm also going to try your fog one
Finally some change!!!!1

Re: the heathens - 01/03/11 02:27 AM
Funny that fog worked for you, earthquake is the only thing that works for me. Its actually really getting on my nerves that I solved all the puzzles a day ago and have yet to convert a single red or orange heathen. The guide says that the cool down time for attempting to convert is an hour, but my game is taking two hours. This whole process is so long and drawn out, I'm getting really frustrated with it.
Posted by: Zia
Re: the heathens - 01/03/11 02:56 AM
@ Quella: it might be that I just didn't notice it... I'm rushing to finish b/c it's back to work tomorrow! lol!

Re: the heathens - 01/03/11 02:58 AM
When they are finally converted, I'm making Miro (my yellow masked rascal who has made everything take 4 times as long) an outcast.... when he grows up he can starve if I don't zap him to death.....maybe.

Is there anyone who can explain how to convert the heathens with red and yellow masks? I have read in the forum that there are two special powers you need, but no one says what they are.
Then someone says you have to get way into game game, but doesn't explain how far or where.

Yes I saw those, but how do you get them? Even the game guide doesn't tell you that.

Re: the heathens - 01/03/11 07:19 AM
Yes it does
At the bottom of page 16:
As your tribe grows, new God Powers will be unlocked.
And at the top of page 17:
As your believers establish themselves here in the center of Isola, they may start to construct a statue in your honor. This statue will augment your Divine Energy. In addition it will house relics that will increase your maximum Divine Energy.
Under the God Powers heading:
The more energy you have, the more God Powers you will have access to.

Re: the heathens - 01/03/11 05:45 PM
This is a more technical question about the yellow and red conversion process. When you
hit them with the fog only some of them start to glow. If you hit them with the fog (or earthquake or whatever) again before the hour or two is up, will it affect the ones that AREN'T glowing yet? Or do you need to wait for it to have an effect on the non-glowing ones, too?

I have a related question.
I have all the powers except the earthquake. I have used the fog a few times, but with no result as far as increasing faith. What am I doing wrong? I am down to red and yellow masks in the filthy encampment, and a Rascal running around messing things up in general.

Re: the heathens - 01/04/11 01:59 AM
Can you guys (mods/ppl who work for ldw) just put an answer on how to convert the last heathens? A detailed answer on how many times of what power and how long to change over the Heathens? Because it's not in guide, not straight out anyway.
Do these things lose their faith after awhile?
I only had the long weekend to enjoy the game, now it's back to busy at my house!

Re: the heathens - 01/04/11 02:23 AM
I have the feeling that I'm being very dense about something. But I did have a good thing happen.
I attained the earthquake power and used it, and my remaining heathens have the glow. So I am hopeful. I waited an hour and went back, but they still have their glows. I am running the game in "slow" time. Does that make any difference in the amount of clock time that it takes to try again?

Re: the heathens - 01/04/11 05:19 AM
Why can't we just get an answer? I have been at this for 2 days and nothing is working. I have hit them with the "two special powers" in one sequence after another and all I get is the glow, they never convert. Yes, I wait an hour or two between zaps. It seems like we just can't get an answer just some cryptic clue. I thought that was what the spoiler alerts and boxes were for, in case you DON'T want to know.

Re: the heathens - 01/04/11 05:33 AM
I made a little progress just now. I think it's just going to take time. I like having the clues at first. It's nice to think I could figure out part of the solution at least. But there may come a time when I break down and ask for pictures and words of one syllable.

If you're getting the "glow" then it's working.
Pay attention to their Faith meter. You will notice it moving more towards the right side of the meter each time a villager "explains the truth". They have to be out of the red zone.
I run my game on Fast speed.
I sincerely hopes this helps to alleviate some of your frustration.
Posted by: Rockmower
Re: the heathens - 01/04/11 08:39 AM
Running the game in slow/normal/fast, does affect how quickly the "glows" will last. It also affects how long (real time) babies will be carried, and especially how fast your villagers will go through your food supply. This last reason is why most of us run our game in normal time unless we want some particular thing to happen faster in real time.
Posted by: OkieD
Re: the heathens - 01/04/11 09:25 AM
Okay...the yellow and red heatherns have the "glow" light. If I approach them...my villagers, of course, RUN away. If I use the fog they don't run but they don't tell them anything. The meters are on the half-way mark. What am I not doing right?
Posted by: Zuleika
Re: the heathens - 01/04/11 03:31 PM
Okie
the glow light is what you want to get. You don't have to talk to them after that. Just use fog or earthquakes to get the glow light, then wait. When the light goes out hit them again. And again, and again, until they finally convert. Using the fog or earthquakes for red and yellow is like talking to the blue guys.
I'm not having any luck because
I tried fog once and got one glow light on one yellow guy. Nothing else. And fog has done nothing since then. I've used fog on several occasions, mostly so the villagers can fish, but nothing ever happens. I don't have any other options, because I don't have the powers.

Re: the heathens - 01/04/11 06:14 PM
Zuleika
Thank you. The earthquake is working (finally) and taking them out one at a time. The fog, like you said, only helps with the fishing. I am still confused why they said it takes two powers. As long as it works I will keep doing what I am doing...even if it is wrong. LOL

I had 3 heathens at 10 am today that were right on the middle line. By 5 pm, it seemed they were "regressing" and the pointers were farther left from the center. I've "taked to them" as soon as the yellow glow is gone, by the same Devotee (100%). It seems I'll have to "talk to them" about 5 more times instead of the one more time that I was expecting. NOT FAIR!! WHY?

I finally converted my last heathens this morning. I had three red-masks and one yellow-mask left, and had been giving them good shake-ups every hour or less for about six hours yesterday, without any of them converting. When I opened the game this morning I used the earthquake power again and the three red-masks converted. Half an hour later I tried again and the yellow-mask came over.

Re: the heathens - 01/06/11 01:59 PM
i got 2 left
I just did such a stupid thing! It's so stupid, that I have to come here and post about it.
I've collected 21/24 science items. A rare one popped up over by the wood pile. So, I placed a child on it then went to distract the little rascal with another villager. Well, as I was dragging the villager around trying to keep rascal occupied, I accidentally put that villager (a jack of all trades) on the nursery. So, the child carrying the rare science item dropped it and ran to the nursery. Ugh!!!
Sorry for the double post, but wanted to report that I used the
fog god power and have not noticed any yellow glowing clouds above my red- and yellow-masked heathens. I did however notice that my "rascal"--a little girl named Iti--now has the skill of "apprentice devotee."
Has anyone else noticed that?
Just converting those blue-masked heathens one at a time.

Re: the heathens - 01/07/11 08:30 PM
I just kept
hitting them with the earthquake and then closing the game and going away. Then a couple hours later I would open up, hit them with the earthquake, and close up again.
Check on the fire while you're there. There are 90 people around and as long as a bunch of them are farming, and some of them are checked for parenting, the village will be fine. I also had several on devotion to make sure that my earthquake is ready when I come back, but this might not be necessary.
Mainly because I thought it would be worth it. It wasn't.

About the God powers...
Will nothing but the earthquake power convert the yellow and red heathens? Because I'm a looooong way from getting that. I have 28 villagers, level 2 spirituality, and most of the relics, but I seem to be stuck around 300 Divine Energy. Converting the blue-maked heathens and having babies seems to barely increase the energy at all, so it seems like I won't be able to get enough energy to have the earthquake unless I convert the red and yellow heathens. Unless the chief gives you a lot more energy than regular heathens? Is there anything else I'm supposed to do to increase the Divine Energy besides converting heathens, having babies, and collecting new relics?

With only 28 villagers you will need a lot more babies and conversions to get the earthquake power. You will need roughly 90 villagers.

Re: the heathens - 01/22/11 05:17 AM
I'm not sure I know how to post a spoiler & I haven't found the instructions on how to, but there is a way to collect and then 'freeze/suspend' all of the aggressive heathens, INCLUDING Rascal.
Here goes.
Get your aggressive heathen or Rascal to chase your selected individual. SLOWLY move your person ahead of the yellow-mask(s). Slowly lead them to a secluded spot, away from a busy or well traveled area. When you get them to your spot, keep your person above them and press the "M"/Map key.
This will freeze the yellow-masks in place with your villager suspended slightly above them.
You can add to your 'collection' by repeating the Pied Piper action with other yellow-masks. When you get the next group to the holding area, press the space bar, pull the villager you want to release out; everyone starts running around, grab the other villager & place him/her in the middle.
If some of the aggressives start to wander off, place your villager near them and move back and forth between the aggressives. When they are consolidated, press the M key.
It will take some practice but you can exchange your villagers. Move one away, and get the clump to gather around the villager you want to hold them. I can usually hold 5 or 6 at a time.
Sometimes another Rascal will pop up, but not often, or the yellow-masks will be released, but usually not while the game is being played. If you shut the game down, the heathens are released.
DO NOT pick up a collectible near them, or they are usually released.

Hmmm,I tried that but my rascal just keeps jumping off. Now she won't even go near the top of the aqueduct! I guess she's a pretty smart cookie.

I've found that there is no need to wait until their lights go off. Hit them with your power repeatedly and it works just as well as waiting until the lights go off.

Good to know, I'll try that.

I can't finish collectables because I have 90 people,all over 22 years old.
Coverted the 3 Red Masks & 6 Yellows (one of which was 7 yr. old) at one time. As soon as I got my god power back, got the last Yellow. So am able to collect again!

Re: the heathens - 02/18/11 06:35 PM
Have all puzzles completed, and all god powers through revive. Have been using the fog power constantly, and cant get even a single glowy on the yellow masks. VERY frustrating. If something is supposed to work, it should WORK, not only work once in a purple moon and then only for half the people playing.
I suppose I just have to wait til my current round of kids is running around and make all my women pregnant again.

The fog is not the intended power to use for converting the heathens. Some players have experimented with other ways of accomplishing things, but (since the game wasn't designed to use fog in that way) results are variable.

I have a hint about converting the heathens but I'm not sure how to attach a spoiler tag, I'm sure it's very easy and I'm being dumb but if someone could help I'd be grateful!!

@Dansmot: It's {spoiler}{/spoiler} Use [] in place of {}.

Thank you!
I found out that when converting heathens you don't
necessarily have to wait for the glow above their heads to disappear before using the earthquake again to convert them. I was looking for another collectible and used the Earthquake God Power almost one after the other and converted 5 heathens in less than 10 minutes
Oops didn't know someone else had posted that sorry!!!

Re: the heathens - 02/20/11 04:51 AM
yup
you need all the villagers in order to get all your points. You need them all to get the earthquake.
then the fun and waiting begins!
HAVE FUN!!!
If the heathen builder says he's impressed, he will convert. It can be only one attempt, but he must be impressed. He just took a while for him to get over being impressed and convert for me.

When they are finally converted, I'm making Miro (my yellow masked rascal who has made everything take 4 times as long) an outcast.... when he grows up he can starve if I don't zap him to death.....maybe.
Awesome! I want to do the same thing and i also want to do it to all the rest of the aggressive heathens who make me take so much longer

Omg that's evil!!!!! *ROTFL* And I'm even more evil than you as I can't stop laughing!!!!!!
That reminds me of a villager I had in VF 3. She disliked running, so she was really slow; to make matters worse she was not so bright. Ok, who am I fooling, she was stupid. She just couldn't learn a thing, no matter how many times you tried. Finally she was able to research and I left her there researching for the rest of her life. If I was able to stave her to death I would too. *laughs*
