(I have the Mac version) Yeah, I did that, and no matter how many times I do it, or how many people I have working on it, it won't get any more dismantled than 12% Am I missing a step or something?
I've done it like 20 times now with 13 adults. 4 or 5 of which are adept builders or over.

hit it with the lightning bolt
but 11 adept and 2 master builders couldn't dismantle it, even with level 3 science, medicine, and construction. I'm still at 0% dismantled. I have a red mask there, so I can't use the hospital at all. I'm stuck. What do I do now?

paused my game and set the villagers on the right-side of the stream so that they're out of the way when I unpause the game and hit the pain totem with the lightening, electrocuting the heathens so they run away temporarily. I then wait just a few seconds as the heathens run away and place my villagers on the totem right away.

As soon as the totem is re-energized and the heathens come back, I hit it again with lightening (making sure once again that my villagers are out of the way). I can usually take out the totem with 2-3 hits of the lightening to scare the heathens away, using at least 5 villagers.

I haven't had an issue with the heathens rebuilding the partially dismantled totem since I've always had enough power to take the totem out, but I bet that they do rebuild it if you don't dismantle it completely and then you'd have to start dismantling it all over again.

Try again with at least 5 villagers (more is better). Make sure you have enough energy for a minimum of 2 hits of lightening, 3 would be better, or a large enough population to recharge your power quickly. I hope this helps. smile

I've used as many as 13 builders and have tried 8 times. My progress in dismantling is still 0%.

That is really odd! Did you keep your game open the entire time they were trying to dismantle it? You might want to fill out a Support Request.

There seriously wasn't time to close it. The lightning started up again within 1 minute. I'm reinstalling it now, even if it means starting all over. If I can't get it torn down after the reinstall, I'll do the support request.

@Manaiacal Zebra: What I do is zap it with lightning, pause after a few seconds to let any yellow masks get some distance, then put all available villagers onto the totem. It can take as many as three tries to completely dismantle it.

Still, the fact that you had zero progress is odd. Maybe it's your timing?

@Misskathy: The heathens don't try to rebuild the pain totem. They would get zapped by the totem if they tried anyway.

LDW advised me to switch to slow. Once I did that, I finally started making progress. The Pain Totem is finally down!

Well with that tribe I still haven't managed to get the pain totem down, but I started a new tribe and it came down easy peasy, so I don't know what the problem is but it's just that tribe. -shrugs-

I have the same problem. Even putting it on slow doesn't help!
