[SPOILERS] Dislikes and likes

I decided that it was time for one of my villagers to have her first baby. I'll usually start them off in pre-natal training by getting intended new mothers to tell a story to the kids, so that she's got enough parenting skills to choose the father herself.

In this case, although the kids set off to listen to a story, she kept deciding to cool her feet, take a swim, repair a hut. Anything but tell a story. When I looked at her details she has "children" and "talking" as her dislikes. Oviously, she wouldn't like talking to children!

I had to start her off as a parent without any training, but luckily it took a couple of tries until a baby appeared, by which time she'd become a Trainee Parent.

Any other interesting results of a villager's likes or dislikes?

I put a guy to the task of building a fire once. He put the wood in place and then the grass. But when I told him to "start a fire" he hightailed it out of the area. When I looked at his dislikes, I found he disliked fire. So I had to have someone else light the fire.

I have a male who dislikes fish. While fishing he's "running away" sometimes

I had several peeps in all VV's who didn't like crowds. I think they don't like the celebrations because it's too crowdy, so they just go on with their job without the festivities

I've got one who dislikes fish as well. However, he seems to retrieve fish quite happily. I expected trouble with him when making him a farmer, but I've never seen any problem. I was surprised, because in the other VV games he'd be running away nearly all the time. He must only dislike fish a little.

Maybe he just dislikes eating fish, but doesn't have a problem catching them.

As I wanted to train Kiamu in building skills, I put him to clear the stream. But impossible to have any success, it was "No!", "No!", "No!", every time!

Looking at his "Likes/Dislikes", I saw that he dislikes.... wind!
(the place to clear the stream is up on the cliff, near the wind-flutes! )

So I brought him back on a hut and he fixed it... easily!!

I think it is neat that these like/dislike reactions were built into the game. It gives our people a little more personality.

I spoke too soon. I've since seen him running away from the food bin, but only after delivering a fish. Presumably he doesn't mind catching or carrying the fish, but dislikes them when they are in the bin. Most odd.

Well I can imagine that, all those fishies so close to those delicious berries? I'm no fish-lover either, I would stock them somewhere else too ... (back in sea for example )

If they've been in the bin for a while the fish might have a rather pungent aroma, as well.

Maybe he's forcing himself to catch the fish and then he dumps it in the bin and runs as far from it as he can!

I have an adult who's a runner. I remember people mentioning runners in the other VV games and how happy they are about them and I am too. When I looked at her likes it said 'running'. She has had one baby so far as I would like to have more runners but I don't know if the children will inherit that.

No, the children don't inherit likes or dislikes.

You are right with the villager who dislikes fish - after delivering a fish to the food bin he's running away!

Now I have two villagers dislikes "the ocean". However I trained them in fishing and they become Master Farmers as well

I have a villager right now who likes fish and the ocean and dislikes swimming and whale meat. I just started taking screenshots of the funny ones that come up every now and again.

Luckily the fishies are ready to be grabbed from the nets in this VV, so no need to swim

I have a villager who dislikes plants and every now and then I see the action "running away" and whenever I see her running away she is never too far from the giant tree.

I also keep getting ones who LIKE LAUNDRY! As if they don't do their laundry enough without having it as a 'like'.

I had one that disliked laundry once and I was like 'woooooo hoooo!, that's my boy!'

Another one I took a screenshot of yesterday likes sand and dislikes soap. His hygiene habits probably aren't the best.

Hey, you can scrub dishes with sand! I'm not sure it would work as well on human skin . . .

That would appear to be true - I adopted 5 14-year olds and they are now 43. I've only permitted one of the males, who happens to be a runner, to have offspring. Not one of 12 ofspring likes running.
With another village, I started with 5 runners age 31 or younger. Two of the women died, only one of whom reproduced, leaving me with two men (now age 45 and 50) and one woman (age 31). They've had 5 offspring and none like running.

I've had peeps who dislike fish and have run away when I've told them to go fishing, in a few VV games. And of course, the adults who like running and the kids who dislike running are always easy to spot!

But it's just occurred to me that I am torturing someone in VV4. I'm trying to get the population up to a certain amount of people at the moment, but only have one fertile male for the time being. He already has 3 or 4 children, and once I have my next hut build he will be getting a few more.

Then I looked at his dislikes, and what doesn't he like? Children. (whoops...)

Wahoo! After playing this village for a month and a half I finally have a runner for likes. The first one I had was a 6 year old when I first set up the village and he departed awhile back.

I have a woman who dislikes fish and she runs away every time she is near the fish tank or the pool.

I hate it when some one who dislikes running. I have had 4 villagers who have and 3 of them were triplets! Imagine my disappointment to discover my first set of triplets were run-aphobes!

Also, I think its funny when someone dislikes "red" and are wearing red clothes. I always change their clothing for them. lol.

In one of my most recent tribes I had a villager, Sally, who disliked fire. I only noticed that after she had ran away in fear 2 times or so aftr I tried to make her light the fire. :P Oddly enough, she never had any problem making cutting tools, she would take the fish bones to the fire and then the newly-made tools to the lab without the slightest hesitation.
In the same tribe, I also have a villager named Kenji, who dislikes swimming. After a while, I decided it would be best to have him reach master level in farming just via berries and fruit.
