How long does it take to become a Master?

I've been attempting to train one of my people to become a Master Parent so he can become an elder. (He's already a Master Builder and Master Scientist). How many times does he have to tell a story to become a Master Parent? It's getting tedious to keep dragging my person over a child, waiting for them to go to the amphitheater, waiting for the skill increase and then doing it again and again and again, etc.

Also, just as a comment to the developers, have you ever considered adding a percentage (0% to 100%) option to the details screen so you can see how far a person has to go in their skills? I'd suggest just being able to hold on the skill name until a percentage appears in place of the meter next to it.
