I cannot complete my collections

I am on I think my 11th generation now and for at least the last 3-4 generations I have not found any collectables. I still need 2 picture pieces and 2 bugs and it is driving me crazy. I keep finding bugs every time it rains but they always sell them online. Is this normal to take so long to find the last few items?

Yes. Very normal. I haven't counted up lately but I must be on at least the 30th generation in a couple of my games and still require two collectibles in each.
