Time isn't passing correctly

Has anyone else had problems with the time not passing. I can leave the game for a whole day and hardly any time passes. In the past if I filled their fridge with 900 food a large family would finish it off, now in the same time they only eat 200 food. My people are ageing really slowly. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

How do you know that time isn't passing? They should age slowly, roughly 6 years per day (this is different from the Virtual Villagers games).

Also, what version of the game are you playing? There were changes to 1.00.05 that corrected overeating, and the food lasts much longer.
