The strange thing about this, that I've heard, never really tried to test it out myself, is that babies become two years old in the time it takes for any other family member to age one year. Four hours, I think.

No. It depends on the game speed you're in, for VV anyway. I don't know about VV: Origins. It takes one hour for a villager to age one year in fastest speed, and it takes two hours for a baby to turn two years old.
