Career Bug?

Career Bug? - 04/23/09 10:59 PM

One of my family members is a Day trader, she was making $105 a day at lvl 1, she just got a promotion to lvl 2 and her pay scale went down to $60 a day... does not seem like much of a promotion to me

Seriously, that doesn't sound right.

If you think about it, a Day Trader's income could plummet at any moment (and often does). It's not a bug. One of the game's tips states, "Different careers have different pay curves." (and it's true)! Salaries don't always go up.

Re: Career Bug? - 04/23/09 11:27 PM

Wow, didn't know that, I mean I knew they could curve but it never ocurred to me that they would go down, another of the games many suprises. I am liking this game more and more (obviously not so good if you take a pay cut though!!)

One of the choices of adoptee was earning a lot of money and the only real reason I didn't pick him was that his occupation was Spammer.

Having some idea from the past how Arthur's twisted mind works, I wouldn't be surprised if his income goes down to zero . laugh

I think I saw a post from someone who said one of their peeps was a spammer. If they are reading this, what has happened?

Re: Career Bug? - 04/24/09 01:56 AM

I have a spammer, and he's only at level 2, but his income went up. I never even thought of the consequences - at least the woman of the house is the primary earner, just in case his drops down. I wonder if he can get arrested or fined for it. That would be inconvenient.

Re: Career Bug? - 04/24/09 03:37 AM

My lady of the house is a hacker, level 2.
I'm also wondering if there is the possibility of being arrested. ^^

Thanks! Now I'll know to never adopt a 'Day Trader'. smile

Oh wow, pay can go down?

My husband Ron's character (in the family named after us and oddly resembling us) was a Spammer, he never got arrested or fined, never lost income.

Wow I never knew that I keep my eye on what they are earning and see if it is up or down.

What I want to know is that when he/she is working on a career and sometimes earns a bit less or is that in the details where it says how much he/she is earning for example his/her daily income is $90 then it drops to say $75 the next time log in? confused

One career is rather unusual in that if the peep gains a promotion the salary will drop.

All of the different careers and salaries have been experimented on and recorded in the following topic:
Fan compilation of careers and salaries

Re: Career Bug? - 08/05/13 07:56 PM

Has the compilation of salaries been moved? That page is just an announcement that the game has been released.

About a week ago, I'm sure saw a list for the PC version, showing how much each career makes at each level. I can't find it now. Could someone please post the direct url? Thanks!

Hi Scully. Try the link now. smile

Re: Career Bug? - 08/05/13 09:38 PM

That's it...only it's not right! I had a day trader at level 7 who was making something like $1200 per day. I wanted to find out how much she'd make at level 8...but this list says $520 and $240. Is this the IOS listing? Is there one available for PC versions? Thanks!

Re: Career Bug? - 08/06/13 12:06 AM

Hi Scully, the chart linked to above is accurate for the original Virtual Families game (this is the forum for the original Virtual Families game). smile Are you perhaps looking for the Careers and Salaries spreadsheet for Virtual Families 2 iOS? If so you can find that in the VF2 iOS forum. For your convenience here is a direct link to the post.

There was a discussion among players about creating a VF2 Careers chart for the Windows/Mac version. You can read about it here in the Virtual Families 2 forum for Windows/Mac versions. I hope this helps. smile

Re: Career Bug? - 08/06/13 02:30 AM

Okay, I feel sheepish...somehow I warped from VF2 to VF1 without realizing it. LOL

No, the Windows version is the one I need. I did check out those links earlier, but the first post (mentioned by xay and compiled by stardustz17) leads to an iOS list, and the second one (mentioned by corylea and compiled by jayisgames) seems to be the same thing. Only it just has the starting and ending salaries, not the salaries per level.

Is there a salary guide available for the Windows version of VF2?

I don't think there is, but I think if you double the iOS figures you are pretty close.

Re: Career Bug? - 08/06/13 07:02 PM

Why double? Is the iOS version that different?
Posted by: XayAdministrator

Re: Career Bug? - 08/06/13 09:30 PM

The Windows/Mac versions do not have in-app purchases, so the salaries are higher to make up for that difference. The iOS/Android/Kindle versions' salaries are lower because they can be supplemented with in-app purchases.

Re: Career Bug? - 08/07/13 01:05 AM

this is kinda embarissing, but what are in-app puchasec?

Re: Career Bug? - 08/07/13 02:04 AM

When you buy applications (apps) for devices like an iPad or Android tablet, you often start with a free "lite" version. Depending on the application, you can buy upgrades, full versions, power-ups, etc. for the app. The LDW games for devices (at least the ones I know of) are free as a "lite" version, then you buy game features using in-app purchases. The PC/Mac versions are purchased outright.

I didn't realize that about Day Traders' salaries, and find it highly amusing.

Re: Career Bug? - 08/07/13 07:55 PM

Ok, I'll try not to adopt day traders!
