Questions!!! - 09/15/09 03:28 AM

I bought the game from the app store and I've got a ton of questions!

First off..what's the correlation of time in the game on 2x to the actucal time it takes to get the fish to age 20?

Second- I've researched the first level of the enviroment, and I just nailed a couple crimson beta's...and they died, so what gives? I have the bubbler and heater in both tanks too, and not to many fish...

Lastly- starting w 300 isola bucks is kinda low..is there really a faster way to get money other than to wait?

It takes approximately 2 hours for fish to reach breeding age on the fastest game speed.

There are a number of things that can cause fish to die:
  • Feeding your fish too much or too often can harm them. If you feed them before they are hungry (about halfway down on their "Fed" meter), they will lose health each time you feed them.
  • Fish can also lose health and die if they are too fragile to survive in the level of Fish Environment that you currently have. Only the common fish (the ones that you can hatch from common eggs) can remain completely healthy in a Level 1 Fish Environment. The very fragile hybrids will usually not live to adulthood. Vitamins will temporarily improve their health, but only the proper Fish Environment will solve the problem.
  • Of course, sick fish will die if you don't cure them!
Part of the challenge of Fish Tycoon is discovering different species that will help you succeed. There are several fish that will survive in a Level 1 Fish Environment (the one you start the game with) that will sell for more than $75. If you're impatient, there are resources in our Fish Tycoon Guide Section that will help you.

Agreed, they'll die if they're sick...I got that much

as far as the enviroment goes, I am currently on a level 2 enviroment, and I'm thinking that for the fish such as the Crimson beta, razorback pigmy, and so forth, I need at least level the level 3 enviroment no?

Level 2 Fish Environment is sufficient for many hybrids to survive, but the most fragile hybrids (including the ones you mentioned) often require the highest level of Fish Environment (Level 3) in order to reach adulthood, let alone survive long term.

As I mentioned, there are charts in the guide section that will tell you which fish require the higher levels of Fish Environment (along with expected selling prices, if you're interested in that information).

So, the research for the enviroment only goes to level 3?

Yes. You start out at Level 1, and can research Level 2. When you get Level 2, you can start researching Level 3 (for a price!).

The guide section that Barbara mentioned contains all this information and more.

Answer this-
how many tanks can I have using this app on the iPhone? Am I limited to the three tanks, or more than that?

I believe all of the full versions (Mac and Windows included) are limited to 3 tanks. (2 breeding tanks and a sell tank).

How about this-
if I have 21 fish in a tank and have pregnant fish in there as well, will the pregnant fish pop, or just remain pregnant?

Re: Questions!!! - 09/20/09 10:27 PM

The babies will be 'born' but they will disappear. There cannot be more than 20-21 fish in a tank, and babies do count smile
