Email events

I play the game on my ipad but the only email events I get are marriage proposals. My daughter plays on her Nook and gets tons of random, fun emails, which make the game far more interesting. Are the two games drastically different, or is there something wrong with my particular game?

No, there's next to no difference. You should get an email event roughly once a day.

No, you should automatically get email events in the game. When you first start playing you should get two in (roughly) the first hour, and then one approximately every 24 hours after that. As the children grow up and go off to college you should also get occasional emails from them as well. I've never seen anybody else report this problem before, and don't have any suggestions, although the developers might be able to help. It might be best if you opened a support ticket.

It should also be noted that time travel (changing the time on your device to move faster in the game) can alter the frequency of email events, and you can read more about time travel's effects on the game here.

It can, but not necessarily, Arnie Time travel alters the game in unexpected ways, unfortunately, and can have an effect on some things and not others, in different scenarios.
