Projects for LDW - 11/11/04 04:08 PM

What are the current Projects that LDW are working on?

Re: Projects for LDW - 11/11/04 07:24 PM

We just released Fish Tycoon for Pocket PC. We will do a bugfix/minor update to that in the near future.

We have been working on a completely new game since about September. It will take place once again on Isola, the locale where Plant and Fish Tycoon take place. We will be less vague very soon with some teasers, and soon after that some screenshots. It will be a pretty unique game. We are aiming for a winter release.

Read somewhere that lemonade Tycoon is now available for PDA/pocket PC...is that true? I presume that this is not an LDW game? what a pity...

Re: Projects for LDW - 12/10/04 12:48 PM

Now that I finally got the right activation code I love Fish Tycoon and recently bought Plant Tycoon and love it as well. Are these two games going to made available for PC's as well??

Re: Projects for LDW - 12/22/04 08:07 PM

Ok, now I am excited.

Are you working on Palm and PPC at the same time?

Screen Shot of the new sim!!!

Wow......

*Waiting with baited breathe*

Re: Projects for LDW - 12/23/04 02:54 AM

Ok Arthur,

Enough about the screen shot already....when do we start beta testing?.....jk .....maybe

Re: Projects for LDW - 12/23/04 05:46 AM

OK!! Here are two screenshots of the game we are working on

Posted by: Raynne413

Re: Projects for LDW - 12/23/04 01:14 PM

They look great! So will this be kind of a scaled down Sims game? The screenshots look like they are from a Palm. Are you planning on waiting until you are finished with the Palm version to work on the PPC, or are you currently working on both?

Re: Projects for LDW - 12/23/04 01:21 PM

I'm hoping for an adventure game. Arthur's teaser says: "real time adventure sim" and that sounds like a lot of fun! The first screen shot that was posted hints at that - the action field says, "curious about the rock." That smells like an adventure game to me - my FAVORITE kind of game!!

Re: Projects for LDW - 01/08/05 01:13 AM

Ooo... Village sim... Nifty! I want it now -_- Playing god to little simulated people is my passion. In Black and White, I used to play bowling, with the villagers as pins ^_^ Probably won't get to do anything like that in this abso-freaking-lutely adorable little sim you guys have cooked up for us... but I have to ask: In Plant Tycoon, there were Magic Plants, among other plants which we sold for money. In Fish Tycoon, we had Magic Fish, and other fish we sold for money. Does this 'Village Sim' mean we have to breed 'Magic Villagers'? Somehow that just doesn't sound right.. -_- As for the idea of selling things... well, I'm not a fan of slavery, so I hope we won't be selling off our villagers O.o I assume you guys have something else in mind to raise funds? Perhaps these little villagers have farms? Also, is there any idea yet as to the date of release, preferably more detailed than, "We hope for a Winter release"?

Re: Projects for LDW - 01/08/05 12:07 PM

Welcome to the forums! Your speculation on the new game cracked me up! What would a Magic Villager look like, I wonder? Unfortunately, much to the chagrin of all of us game-hungry LDW-addicted people out here who are eagerly awaiting his new releases, Arthur likes to keep us guessing. I think he enjoys seeing all of the speculation flying around the forums! I've seen him respond to begging before; maybe he might give us another hint if we all started begging?!?
Posted by: Mikani

Re: Projects for LDW - 01/08/05 07:41 PM

If I were to imagine a "Magic Villager", it would probably leave a trail of sparkles, like the Magic Fish, and... and... they can fly! Yes. Flying sparkly Magic Villagers. They could probably walk on water, too. Or part the seas, if they'd rather As for begging... *ahem* Please tell us, O Wise Sage! *kow-tows before Arthur* Enlighten us with your infinite wisdom, for we are poor ignorant savages in comparison! (Is my nose brown enough yet? ^_~)

Re: Projects for LDW - 01/08/05 08:34 PM

I'll join in on the begging, since I seem to be getting some practice in the Little Palm Pet forum. Please please please. . .

I think the magic villagers should have blue hair.
Posted by: ArthurAdministrator

Re: Projects for LDW - 01/09/05 03:30 PM

Lol! If something didn't leave sparkles behind it, how would you know it was magic?

Ok you will not be selling any villagers, so forget that straight off. Don't expect a game just like Fish and Plant Tycoon, because we wanted to take a break from that structure. We are taking some chances with a pretty unique game design, we believe.

Mikani, judging from your comments I suspect you will enjoy the game. We are inching along closer to beta, slowly but steadily!

Whoo-hoo! Gotta love betas. Of course, school starts back the 18th, so that will give me something to do in my boring classes.

But just as "radical" as Plant and Fish Tycoon were (and still is)?

It is definiately a trail of patience.

Re: Projects for LDW - 01/13/05 11:16 AM

Will the beta be public?

Re: Projects for LDW - 01/13/05 05:42 PM

No. We'll assemble a group based on experience, enthusiasm, and a variety of devices. Carla handles that so bug her.

You WILL keep previous beta testers in mind, won't you?

Re: Projects for LDW - 01/14/05 05:47 AM

We always go over our list of previous testers and send out invitations to the excellent ones like you, Raynne.

Re: Projects for LDW - 01/15/05 02:55 AM

I'd like to beta test How do I sign up for it? I know I'm new, but I like to think I'm friendly I like to help, and I'll be honest, I also can't wait to get my paws on anything new you guys make ^_^
Posted by: CarlaAdministrator

Re: Projects for LDW - 01/15/05 06:10 AM

Hello! We're always happy to have new beta testers on board! We will send out a request for a couple more beta testers when we approach our beta. If you want to sign up right now, though, just fill in the support form and tell me what device you own, if you beta tested in the past and if so, which games or software. I will send out invitations when we start testing and these will be based (as Arthur previously said) on the enthusiasm, experience and device owned.

Re: Projects for LDW - 01/15/05 12:56 PM

I have done so, Carla Btw, everyone, you can call me Kate. I hope to contribute to this snug little community, beta-testing or no, so I'll be around these forums as much as I can ^_^

Re: Projects for LDW - 01/15/05 06:16 PM

Carla, should previous testers also fill out the form?

Hi, Kate.

Re: Projects for LDW - 01/15/05 06:44 PM

No Raynne, it's really not necessary!

Hi Raynne!! ^_^ Here's hoping we get to beta-test together! Oh, I'm so excited ^_^

Re: Projects for LDW - 02/06/05 01:20 PM

I don't normally look at the LDW main home page, since I go straight to the forums, but did you see that there's a teaser for Fish Tycoon for desktop PC! There's also a link where you can sign up to be notified when it comes out!

Re: Projects for LDW - 02/07/05 05:17 PM

Oh no, just when I thought it was safe to walk away from the whole fish-feed-fish-fin-fish-body-fish-sparkles-fish-notes obsession I was having. lol!

At least with a bigger PC version, it should be easier to catch those itty bitty babies to see how old they are.
Posted by: Mikani

Re: Projects for LDW - 02/07/05 09:10 PM

Oh, I hope you're right, Brenda... *goes to catch a newborn fish* Eek! *caught an adult instead, as the infant ducked behind a nearby plant* Come back here! *tries for the newborn again, and misses (again), catching one of its parents instead* Grr... *sends all the other fish to another tank, and spends the next ten minutes trying to catch the infant* ...(insert dialogue of user berating self and infant virtual fish here)...
Posted by: LadyCFIIAdministrator

Re: Projects for LDW - 02/08/05 11:51 AM

You're funny, Kate! I can just picture you sitting there frantically poking your Palm! I do that, too, except in my case, the other tanks are usually full, and I can't move any fish to them! That's why I usually play Fish Tycoon on the Pocket PC - the fish don't dart around as fast as they do on the Palm! I wonder how fast they'll swim on the desktop PC version? Can you imagine trying to chase them down with the mouse! Yikes!!
Posted by: Brenda

Re: Projects for LDW - 02/08/05 12:54 PM

lol! When I started the game, I'd use the selling tank as the fry tank, for the various reasons mentioned in this forum... but eventually I made tank #2 the "nursery" just because they were easier to see in there, and didn't have as much to hide behind there. Still... they are hard to catch.

Reminds me of an old "Dennis the Menace" comic.. He was showing his friend his bowl of goldfish, and said:

"You can even pet them! ...if you're fast enough."
Posted by: Mikani

Re: Projects for LDW - 02/09/05 01:25 AM

This discussion reminds me of the phrase "It's as easy as catching fish in a barrel." Granted, we're using virtual tanks, and we're not using rods or bait, but still... the person who first said that really should play this game, if he thinks catching fish in any kind of small enclosed space is easy >.<
