I am not a guy....I am a gal

This topic is for those of us who have male-sounding screennames but who are, in reality, female and also for those of you who have been embarassed when you realized your mistake. Now you never have to worry about making a gender mistake again.

So to start off, I am not a guy...I am a gal.

Edit: If you have some funny moments where someone just realized that you were a gal, post them as well.

houjun, i was on a different forum , all women and a lot
of us just shortened our names. then when i came here
everyone thought i was a guy !
so for a while i had "TMAC is a girl" in my siggy.
now i have my new avi from AR with "tmac is a girl"

That's part of the reason why this is up here.

lucas and I were discussing in the Shout Box some of the funnier moments when someone realized....oh you're a girl.

So we decided to dedicate this to all of us who have faced some sort of gender confusion when talking to someone on the forums.

Oh, I remember the good old days when I thought tmac was a boy, keza was a girl, and Jazz was a college student

Well, I haven't faced gender confusion on this forum, owing to my fairly obvious username , but on MSN Groups I used to be known as Reader4066, which caused a bit of confusion. I eventually changed my user to ChloeWeasley (I was mostly in Harry Potter groups )

Also, my guinea pig Cinnamon is currently going through gender confusion. We're having trouble figuring if he's a gal or a male, but we still call him a boy

Since My Name is Girlish No I haven't faced this.

But Once I Thought AR Was A Guy! My Bad!

Well I remember when in the shout box AR said "you'rt a GIRL' and I said yes I am a lady and then Rockmower said "Sir Lucas"

I know after I had asked TheGnome whether I could call her Aunt Jen or Tante Jen, she asked me.... "So are you Niece Houjun or Nephew Houjun?" I had to laugh and say Niece Houjun.

Once in a Fan Fiction about a tribe of forumers with our names, the author wanted to marry me with Kittenangel (who is a girl too)
In French Laurence is a feminine name and Laurent a masculin name! And Lucas is a masculine name!! (One of my brothers name is Jean-Luc)

Ok, I have to chime in to this "Ladies" discussion.

I have to admit I was unsure about Laurence. The reason I was confused was because Lawrence is a boys name but Laurence was spelled with "au" similar to Laura, which is feminine. Reading this thread I was shocked to find Luarence was as old as she is. I pegged her for more like late 20's, early 30's.

There was no confusion on my behalf with Houjun. Well, of course there are those questions when you first start talking to someone but they were quickly resolved with some carefully planned but not obvious, questions.

And Borg! Borg, Borg, Borg... I dang near fell out of my chair and hit my head on the way down when I read that... OMGoodness... Borg could be that FBI agent. Afterall, being Borg, you are part of a collective.

Oh, and just to let y'all know... Gamey is NOT a girl. LOL..

ROFL. I admit, before I was comfortable with giving my age online, I did pretend to be a college student but then I decided it was OK.

there was a time at Food4 Less when i moved a cart and the dude said thankyou sir. and im always asked if im a guy or girl. AND i was almost jumped because i had 2 skateboards and the hood of my jacket was up. the dude wanted to ride one i said no he grabbed me by the chest and threatened me until he realized i was a girl.

I doubt there's confusion with my screen name... especially since I posted in the "what does your screen name mean" thread and explained my screen name. Jem is a cartoon character (female rockstar). I used to watch it when I was a kid. It's not an alternative to Jim. It's more like Gem only with a J instead of G.

"Laurence" seems more feminine than "laurence" for some odd reason. I recommend you start capitalizing your name.

I am a girl. And it is so refreshing to see a lot of older women on this website and posting as well. I will be 55 in July. I used to be a little reluctant to tell my age. But LDW has some pretty good people on thier forums. And it has been pretty easy since I joined back in 06 with the friendliness of everyone. Love the games and love the creators as well as the forums.

I love your quotes (walk on soles... and be who you choose to be) -- both very mature thoughts (mature in a good way!) And, you make beautiful avatars! Not child play. Enjoy childhood -- we only get a few years of it, and spend the rest enjoying those memories. You'll have plenty of time to be an adult; it lasts way longer than childhood.

p.s. In case their's any confusion, I am most definitely a GUY, MAN, Whatever, but NOT a GAL! I mostly stay up on this thread to try and avoid some of the humiliating mistakes I've made in the past. It doesn't always, work, but it helps, So I agree this thread is needed!

Child, don't grow up too fast. When I was your age, I had a new baby brother. My mother wanted him until he came along, then I got stuck with him, I grew up fast, but still had to go to school. I also cleaned and cooked on top of everything else. Guess what, I just barely made it out of high school but wasn't smart enough to go to college.

So even though you're wishing you were older, stay young as long as you can, and enjoy it.

Beside playing these games makes you feel older than you really are.

Wait. Red is feminine? I mean, pink is feminine, purple is feminine, but red? Not that a red dress isn't sexy, but heck, I've seen a man successfully wear a pink tie, or a pink shirt with a business suit, too.

Yes, I have pulled off the pink dress shirt with the pink and blue tie and I had been told by several people that I looked quite handsome, dapper even. I was told it went well with my darker complexion. Now that is not to say that I would wear a pink T-shirt on a Saturday.
Red has been my favorite color for eons. If and when I get my motorcycle (providing I am not too old and decrepit) it will be Candy Apple red. It will be a darker red that when you look at it, it will have some depth to it. Not just a plain old flat stock red.

My favorite reds are darker reds; but red's never been much of a favorite at all. My big favorites are on the blue side of blue green, and blue-greys. Blue steel is a favorite metal for that reason, even if there's no practical application for it.

I use this name and other versions of it around the internet. I've had many a person mistake me for a guy (even on sites that had genders listed!) I am in fact a female. I may have a way of not always acting very feminine, but if you get a look at me MOST of the time I'll have on some shade of pink! Probably the thing that makes me most girlish is that I love the colour pink! Hoping that by having my actual pic on here that will stop it from happening here too, but just to be safe posting here!
