POLL: LDW Toy Line

POLL: LDW Toy Line - 06/23/05 06:41 PM
Starting with Fish Tycoon, a vinyl toy collection for LDW's games. It may be in the works. Each toy would be randomly sealed in a package, with a limited print run on the 7 magic fishes.

Re: LDW Toy Line - 06/24/05 08:17 AM
What's the point? If you want to make them collectables surely they should be made of better material than vinyl...?Or were they meant to be just toys, and not items worth keeping forever?
Posted by: Geo
Re: LDW Toy Line - 06/24/05 03:11 PM
Well gamefanatic, we are at the very preliminary stages right now. The final material may still be up in the air.

Re: LDW Toy Line - 06/25/05 06:02 AM
I would love for them to be miniature collectables....I would then buy as many as I could get (afford!!)

Re: LDW Toy Line - 06/25/05 03:40 PM
It would be great to have them on those small snap lanyards, so that you could clip them to your purse, phone, PDA case, etc. Of course, then you have the problem, like the hockey car flags.... how many is too many to be considered tasteful? While I think ONE hockey car flag is too many, I'd buy all 7 Magic Fish! lol!

Re: LDW Toy Line - 06/26/05 08:21 AM
I agree! Anything collectable from ldw would be great....it is, in fact, a tremendous idea

Re: LDW Toy Line - 07/17/05 12:55 AM
I agree....not vinyl....little collectables....I buy keychains and collectables all the time, and would love some of my favorite game.

Re: LDW Toy Line - 07/27/05 06:25 PM
But....if the vinyl toys are already in the works, I would buy them!
I have a toymaker in China who does great work and has made me some plastic keychains (of ponies, puppies and kitties) made of flexible but harder and more durable plastic than vinyl. They can be made in any color and painted to any specification. The material and labor is dirt cheap, but the only problem is that it is expensive to ship from China. If you guys are interested, I have his email address. He is very friendly and does great work.

How much would you pay for one Magic PLUSH Fish? Size around 5-6 inches. Shipping not included.

Re: LDW Toy Line - 06/11/06 11:18 AM
As I already collect action figures, my request would be for miniature vinyl figures like kubricks. I am a huge fan of Art Asylum's Minimates and they do all kinds of licenses. But they are like Marvel and DC. On a small production run or custom from an established manufaturer, you'd be able to do this affordably to keep prices low. I'd like to see something under 2" with some articulation. That would be really cool. I DEFINITELY would like to see the VILLAGE SIM people. That would be awesome.

Re: LDW Toy Line - 06/11/06 04:33 PM
Boo, I like your idea of Kubricks. In fact, I have a large collection in my workspace. Would you pay $7-10 for a random VS kubrick figure?

Re: LDW Toy Line - 07/13/06 04:02 AM
Im actually not much of a toy collector myself, but i can immagine alot of kids who play Fish Tycoon on mummy or daddy's pda that would love somthing like that.
I might buy one if i happen to come across it and its cheap. But expanding your products can never hurt : )

Re: LDW Toy Line - 07/14/06 11:35 AM
I would prefer a Fish Tycoon 2!

Re: LDW Toy Line - 07/14/06 11:48 PM
Hmm maybe like a charm bracelet with all the fish on it? I know my wife and kids love the game and they would want one, as for me maybe an "action figure" of a fish packaged with some guns and grenades. Maybe a greenfin spot with a mean grimace and really nasty pointed teeth.

Re: LDW Toy Line - 07/15/06 05:22 AM
i think my kids would love something like this.

ooooooooooooooookay who voted in the 10-15 dollar range, are you freakin rich??? or coocoo???
im sorry just the idea of buying a 5-6 inch ANYTHING plush for more than $10 is silly to me. don't be saying you will pay that much, cause thats what the price will be if not more.
yea im too cynical

We will not go forward with the Toy Line. We had some cute and interesting ideas, but it's too expensive to set up.
Oh well, you have to pick your battles right?!

Sounds like a fun idea to me.

Re: LDW Toy Line - 11/10/06 05:28 AM
You probably should have started with the idea of Virtual Villager toys. I bet a lot of people would be willing to pay almost, and I stress almost, any price for a VV toy. It would be neat to have miniature figurines lined up across the top of my monitor while playing VV2. Or a plush shelf sitter villager sitting on the shelf over my monitor.

Re: LDW Toy Line - 11/12/06 01:22 AM
I would definitely buy the little villagers. Heck I might even make some samples for you and mail them in. I have ton of villiger ideas for toys. I just know that eventually they will be a hot item in the store isle. Keep with your current plans, they sound great. But just wait... they will be demanding them in a few years.
You could probably even make a platic boulder and we'd buy it to go next to our little villagers. I'm talking carded blister packs. Couldn't you just see the kids in the store having a temper tantrum because mom wouldn't buy a plastic boulder . I love it.

Re: LDW Toy Line - 11/12/06 08:49 PM
Can you imagine someone playing VV on their computer and while they were waiting for the researchers to earn tech points, they would be playing with little VV figurines on their desk? And then family members would walk in and see all this, then go out and tell the others "Yeah. She's gone alright!" Maybe even make an inflatable punching bag of the GC. That way, every time the GC throws a party when you are trying to do something with your villagers, you can turn around and take all you aggression out on the GC punching bag. The way most people seem to feel about the GC, that might be one of the biggest sellers!

Re: LDW Toy Line - 11/13/06 12:32 AM
How about made soft toy villagers small so you can put them in your pocket because in PC VV is pretty small about 2 cm high

Re: LDW Toy Line - 11/13/06 12:40 AM
I think villagers in pc look like a dolls to me so I think you should made the toy soft

Re: LDW Toy Line - 02/26/07 10:53 PM
Why not join forces with Mc Donald's like Neopets did with their toys?
Happy meals and Little people, food for thought.

Re: LDW Toy Line - 02/26/07 11:52 PM
LOL
a toy line would be good but FT yeah right like anyone will buy a plastic fish!!! I think VV would be better you can make figures and stuff of all the villagers and make little interactive plastic modles for the island.

Re: LDW Toy Line - 04/03/07 06:08 PM
I would have loved the vv figurines, very cool, but not at a price in the double digits
Posted by: gamefanatic
Re: LDW Toy Line - 04/04/07 05:26 AM
Depends on what those double digits were! However, if there were a few LIMITED EDITION figurines, I think the idea would really take off!

Re: LDW Toy Line - 04/14/07 04:02 PM
how about some for virtual villagers.
Posted by: eyeshigh
Re: LDW Toy Line - 04/15/07 06:59 PM
i'd like to see 1" to 1 1/2" plastic figure on keychains
they don't even have to be 3D, although if they were, you could remove the ring and set them up as figurines to show off
i'd like to see several villagers from vv1 and vv2, preferably the cuter ones
for FT a little hard plastic bubble filled with water and a magic fish inside would be cool
also, the seahorse, so i can stare at it and try to figure out what on earth it actually does! lol

I want plush VV dolls!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Funkiroller
Re: LDW Toy Line - 05/22/07 07:12 PM
A villager building set would be cool! Like a box of legos. All of the villagers are different combos of the same thing (heads, clothes) so that way you could change your little peeps to actually match your favorite villagers. Every new version of VV could have an expansion pack with new pieces that you could add to your village that you already have.

Re: LDW Toy Line - 07/02/07 10:39 PM
Does anyone remember the old Polly Pockets? Not the new ones that are like 3" tall, but the old ones that were less than 1" tall and easily swallowed. I thought of them just now. They'd be pervect VV figures, and they'd come in those cute cases with built-in landscapes!
Posted by: Krystal
Re: LDW Toy Line - 07/02/07 10:57 PM
Kelila, awesome idea! I loved those toys when they were still being made! You could do any number of things with the landscapes. There could be little interactive parts, like a crate that breaks open and then seals again for part of the gong. A hidden hole under flap of paper or thin plastic over the lagoon for another piece. And the thorns could be plastic bits that lift off. The ruins could be similar to the lagoon and the thorns. And the pieces of the gong could click together and hang in the gong encasement in the top half.
And instead of making the whole area one big playset, make it in areas that are sold separately and lock together. You could even make it so the once you have all of them, the south and west sides hook together into one big one, and keep adding to that with each installment of the game.
And you should be able to but more villagers to add into the village as it grows, something like Funkiroller's suggestion (perfect idea to have expansion packs!), but make them like the original Polly Pockets, all one piece.
I've got more ideas, and I'm off and running, so if you need even more suggestions, just ask!
I think I'll work on that idea myself and perhaps make a few diagrams....
I like the key chain idea too. I really like Amanda 1681 idea of plush virtual villagers. Since my granddaughter and I like tp play the game she would love a boy and girl to hold. Of course she would name the gile doll Amaya and the boy (her best friend) Tanner. What a great gift for Christmas

Re: LDW Toy Line - 07/04/07 12:48 AM
Key chains are cool. I've seen LEGO minifig keychains, and those are pretty sweet.
I thought of the TY kid dolls for the plush toys. They have changeable clothing, too!

Oooooh, I would love polly pocket sized VVs! I like the expanded idea of them snapping together, too.
Although, as it's not happening anymore, I suppose it doesn't matter.
But it does make me miss the days where Polly Pockets could get lost in your pocket.. nowadays she needs her own seat in the car! She's HUGE!
Posted by: HappyPlayer
Re: LDW Toy Line - 05/07/08 09:49 PM
...I remember polly pockets in their original size! And I agree that these would make great toys if they decide to pick up the idea again.
They could have
* Interchangable villager clothes
* Interchangable hair pieces
Instead of the rock-star and theme-park type sets, it would be:
* A researchers table and or hut
* Farmland and or coconut trees
* A pond or waterfall with lagoon
* Huts for the villagers
* Plant Nursery with interchangable plants
* Fish Store with interchangable fish
Of course not all varieties of plants and fish can be easily sold in a set, but maybe just the interchangable parts so we could put together our favorite plant or fish to sell.
I wonder if LDW will ever offer a paper-doll set? That would be fun too!

Re: LDW Toy Line - 05/08/08 02:38 PM
Oh wow, the Polly Pockets are a great idea! I used to love those things, and they'd be PERFECT for VV!
Do it, do it, do it XD

Re: LDW Toy Line - 06/16/08 06:37 AM
I do love the idea of polly pocket playsets - I honestly wouldn't buy them myself. However - as most ppl play VV while at work (oops) - how bout little desk toys? I would buy those up. Even little figurines. Something possibly interchangeable so you could make it look like your fave VV character for the day. It's all about killing the boredom bug. Better yet - make an attractive polly pocket type set so that you could set it on a desk - like a little treasure chest or crate.

Re: LDW Toy Line - 09/14/15 10:13 PM
Some VFam sets would be cool, families of all different sizes (up to 6) with furniture, pets, clothes, etc. Or maybe some toy fish for fish tycoon. What I would absolutely love is Virtual Villagers toys/collectibles (preferably collectibles), including the tree of life, huts, a lagoon (obv not real water), maybe even some food, a research table, and of course, villagers! I'm a VV girl, they're my favorite LDW games (I know I'm extremely late)

Agree, it would be lovely to have villager figures and tiny PT plants. The thread sure has dated though. i don't think it's anywhere near to being a possibilty as of now.
But i am great at DIY, i might try doing some stuff sometime.
