[SPOILERS]Out of housing, but nowhere to teach... - 04/12/05 11:05 PM

I have to admit that the game is so fun, that I've been running my system clock extra fast so I can keep playing. I've gotten to the point where everything is researched, two huts are built, the ruins and stone are fixed/carved, and the golden child has been born and is growing up. There is a ton of food, there are enough healers, researchers, and farmers, so things are flourishing, except there are villagers that are "worried about housing." I want to train up some teenagers in construction, but nobody has even a little bit of that skill (the older generation of construction villagers died off). Am I missing a place where I can have new huts built?

Have you checked out the creek area?

hmm... the creek has been cleared, and a lagoon filled up, which led to the magic garden. Other than that, The only thing that happens in that area is swimming and laundry. =/

There is a 3rd hut, but I am not sure how easy it is to start. I would suggest selecting a villager to be a builder, and see if they can find it on their own.

If this doesn't work, you may just have to keep your population as it is, and keep working to solve the remaining puzzles (I haven't done them all either yet)

Thanks for the tips... No fix yet, but at least I'm not in a dead end anymore. I found two villagers, an adept builder and a trainee builder, which gives me hope, so I'll try and guide them to the right area. The Adept Builder walks around "complaining" sometimes, which is new and odd, but otherwise, hones his skill fixing existing huts. Build a new one already!! =P

Yo do need to keep an eye on these little villagers. If things seem to be getting a bit hard, they like slacking off the job. They just need to be shown who is boss.

Now that you have got villagers with building skills, you should find the 3rd hut being started soon (I hope)

There are also lots of other cute actions that the villagers do. When things are working well, it is fun to just select a villager and follow them to see what they can get up to

Okay. Is there any point to have researching still go on?

Keep building up on the points. You will be told when you have done enough. You should get an idea on what to aim for by looking at the Tech screen.

The trick now is to make sure that everything runs smoothly, enough food, no illness......

Okay. Again, thanks! I think I should divert some of the farmers in to research... 212000 food is more than enough.. =P

Re: Out of housing, but nowhere to teach construction - 04/13/05 12:51 AM

OH! I've had the third hut for a long time!!!

I forgot that the first hut was the one in the middle, and only counted the two off to the left... So now I've got 11 puzzles completed, 2 island events encountered, three huts built, a ton of food, everything researched, and the cave opened, but the population doesn't go any higher than 65. hmm... next step, fill up the graveyard?

P.S. Signed up, waiting for email with password.

ahhhhh in that case, you are ahead of me now. Not bad!!

I think there is a population cap, as more people just makes the game run too slow.

Yes, you have missed the graveyard. I suggest you go exploring, and you should have no problems at all finding it.

I have the graveyard (missed it for the first few deaths, then figured it out), but am just wondering what happens when there are too many tombstones...

Re: Out of housing, but nowhere to teach construction - 04/13/05 01:03 AM

The graveyard seems to be like the food bin.....bottomless (or at least it was the last time I checked)

Sorry, can't tell you off hand what the missing puzzle piece is. I have an idea, but if correct, I am having problems getting this one as well

Re: Out of housing, but nowhere to teach construction - 04/13/05 12:35 PM

I have 348,815 food in the bin and am just waiting for the GC to move the boulder. Everything else is long ago aolved. I've been waiting for more than three days now. My villagers have nothing else to do with their time than farm and heal.

Hey moderators, you might want to add a feature in the forums to signify that a particular thread will spoil the game for newbies. Thanks.

I am now on the way to getting my last puzzle solved, but sorry, am not going to post here what the secret was.

fongj, I saw that you were the latest member entered last night, so I am sure that your details are set-up. Maybe send one of the LDW team a Private message to see what has happened

Can I build more than 6 huts??? - Possible Spoiler - 06/15/06 10:35 AM

Hello.

I need help. I've finished 11 puzzles, have 6 huts, and 65 people. I don't have a Master Builder and don't know how to turn one of my villagers into one. Are there any more huts that can be built????

Thanks.

Re: Can I build more than 6 huts??? - Possible Spoiler - 06/15/06 10:48 AM

If you're playing v1.1 of Village Sim (which was released in late 2005), you can always train builders by having them fix existing huts. Just drag a villager to one of the 3 huts that they built, and they will gain construction skill each time they successfully repair a hut.

If you're playing v1.0 of Village Sim, the only opportunity to train a builder comes from an Island Event - a storm that washes more debris onto the beach.

Barbara,

I'm playing 1.0. Is it possible that another storm will happen or do I just need to start over without getting that last puzzle?

Thanks.

Re: Can I build more than 6 huts??? - Possible Spoiler - 06/15/06 09:36 PM

I know of many people who have successfully completed that last puzzle in v1.0 using only the debris from the Island Events to train a Master Builder, so it IS possible! It might take a few tries, since the Island Events are random, but your best chance is to keep your tribe strong and healthy and, when that event occurs, train a 14-year-old (and only ONE 14-year-old). That way, there is a better probability that another of those events will occur in that villager's lifetime (since a single debris field probably won't be enough to turn an unskilled villager into a Master Builder).
