Apparently many corporate users felt as you do, Arnie, and Windows 8 has not been a big hit with them. I didn't upgrade either. Windows 8.1 apparently brought back the Start menu. Windows 10, the next iteration, is supposed to detect the device you're on and adjust accordingly, meaning (I think) that PC users would be given a more mousey experience and tablet users a more touchy experience. My problem with all this is that you upgrade and if you don't like it you're more or less stuck either with the upgrade or a painful regression process, and it's not just M$. The last iOS update made my iPad not enjoyable to use, to the point that I'm planning on selling it and finding an Android tablet instead.
