Frana (37) and Stepahno (34) now have two daughters; 10 vyo Vista and 4 vyo Kristania.

Stephano is a L-5 QA Engineer earning 336 per day. Frana brings in 480 per day and is a L-5 Jewelry Smelter.

Vista, like her blue haired Great Aunt Fabie, has an unusual hair color - violet. She has her father's blue eyes. While Vista was a toddler her parents sent her to the very expensive Upgrade Toddler School ( proudly referred to when bragging as THE UTS) Where she learned to like crickets, Surprises and quiet. She still dislikes the color blue.

Kristania has green eyes and her father's brown hair color. Because she has no likes or dislikes Kristania's parents are discussing packing her off to VBS (Virtual Boarding School) where they are assured the child will receive a quality education.

The family pets, Snowdrop and Tiger, are given plenty of attention and are allowed to do pretty much as they please. Snowdrop has favorite indoor napping spots while the more adventuresome Tiger much prefers the great out of doors. The felines have chosen favorite peeps. Snowdrop follows little Kristania and Tiger prefers Vista.

Note to all from the Happy family: "Thank you for your kind condolences regarding the passing of dear Grandfather Grego. We appreciate your comments and your interest in our ordinary little family."

Sincerely.
Frana, Stephano and family

I just lost my 2nd generation husband. The last daughter went away to college at the same time, so my poor wife is in the house alone with her pets. I noticed that they're following her around everywhere! It's so sweet. Poor depressed Decimal has her furry babies for comfort! I think it's a nice new addition to the game.

This family went on for several generations until I lost the game when my computer died and needed to be completely revived!

This is a game that I always come back to, (As well as the original Virtual Families.)

Because I own 'only' a computer it is not possible to try any of the games offered for other "devises". So, I was happy to still be able to buy and download PC versions of Virtual Families.

Also, I would not be physically able to play games on devise that does not allow use of a "mouse".

I was a little concerned about the way Microsoft seemed to be moving in Windows 8, for similar reasons. Although I can use a touch-screen, I am rather 'fat-fingered' and find it easier to use a mouse. That's one of the (many) reasons why I switched to using a Mac. Apple have indicated that they have no plans to switch in the Mac OS.

Arnie, my new PC has Windows 8 and it has taken some getting used to. For one thing if my mouse slides away (I use a slightly tilted lap desk for my keyboard and mouse) the window will close. This happens when the mouse pointer touches a corner icon. Happily (so far) all of the LDW pc games operate well on Windows 8 ( or it may be 8.5)

Yes, while they haven't 'gone the whole hog' yet, it seems evident that M$ feel the future seems to lie in touch-screens. If they start making mouse (and keyboard) operation the secondary way of interacting with the screen then mouse users will find things more difficult.

Apparently many corporate users felt as you do, Arnie, and Windows 8 has not been a big hit with them. I didn't upgrade either. Windows 8.1 apparently brought back the Start menu. Windows 10, the next iteration, is supposed to detect the device you're on and adjust accordingly, meaning (I think) that PC users would be given a more mousey experience and tablet users a more touchy experience. My problem with all this is that you upgrade and if you don't like it you're more or less stuck either with the upgrade or a painful regression process, and it's not just M$. The last iOS update made my iPad not enjoyable to use, to the point that I'm planning on selling it and finding an Android tablet instead.

Aviatrix,

I agree. As Anarose discovered, making buttons and other user interface elements more 'touch-friendly' in Windows 8 seems to have made the close button (at least) too sensitive. I don't regret moving to a Mac. In fact I'm looking forward to the imminent release of the new version of OS X, Yosemite.

I'm rather surprised that you find iOS 8 not enjoyable, though. I have an iPad as well and haven't noticed any issues at all. Are your apps up to date? Several of my apps have had recent updates because of the new iOS release, but even before updating they all seemed to work OK although it's of course possible that I wasn't using a particular operation that would have failed under iOS 8. The most important app, VF2, works fine! smile
