This topic is for posting suggestions for VV4. Please, post only suggestions for VV4, and not comments about other people's ideas, since we print these topics and use them during game development. Let Arthur decide what is a good idea and what isn't. \:D It gets too cluttered if a lot of discussion gets posted here.

It will be easier to make suggestions for VV4 once we've seen VV3 ;\) But the rain we saw in the preview video made me think...

Why not have 4 seasons? Since each game is tracked by the computer clock you could program some changes that happen on a seasonal basis.

For example some events could be season related ... rainy season ... floods. Or some change in the plants could occur on a seasonal basis. This is probably pretty hard to do and there aren't as many obvious seasonal changes in the tropics, but some changes that are tied to the passage of time as it's measured by the computer clock would be fun!

I have to agree that it would be easier once we see what's in VV3. I can think of a number of things, but I have intentionally not read any of the threads about developing VV3 so I wouldn't accidentally run across a spoiler (you know how my mind links things together, right or wrong).

I know that I would like a few of things right off:

1. The ability to put notes in the villager's files. I'm currently using their name space for notes.

2. I'd like to have the ability to click on a villager and immediately have some idea of their skill levels other than just info on the skill they're working on right then. Since Trainee and Adept are very generalized, just seeing that a villager is Adept does not show if that villager is at the bottom of that ranking or the top. So I now add "new" or "bars 1" or "bars 2" etc. in the name field to tell me approximately where they are in their current skill. But I'd also like to be able to see what other skills they have mastered (or not).

3. I would like a listing of the villagers, similar to a spread sheet where each villager is listed in a row with their skill levels represented as a percentage of completion. So the rows would be the villager's name. The columns would be Farming, Building, Research, etc. Within each cell block would be the percentage of how they're doing. This would make it very easy to keep track of the villagers and to spot the ones lagging behind.

4. I'd like to be able to designate special outfits for special meanings in which, once I designate it, it can no longer be automatically used for children. OR I'd like to be able to change children's outfits. I use the clothing as another way to mark my villagers for recognition at a glance, but when a child is born wearing one of those outfits, I have to be sure to catch it when s/he turns 14 or I might not catch it until a VV year or two later.

5. I'd LOVE to be able to not only change their clothing, but to change the colors of each outfit and add accessories (shark tooth necklace!). Maybe these accessories can also be tied into skill levels earned. I'd rather not have to pay to change their clothes. With VV2, it's either you can or you can't do it. At first, you have to use all your points for increased skills, but after that, you build up so many points it no longer matters. Just do away with the points for clothes. But make certain clothes and accessories available only once a villager has reached certain milestones and/or skills.

6. I would hope that wherever the children gather for their lessons when a master parent is teaching, it is not smack dab in the middle of the fishers' trail! I'm sure being trampled on by the the fishing villagers is hard on the students with ADHD. \:D

7. I want MORE EVENTS. It's a little boring to get only one event every few days.

8. I'd like some mischievous kids and ways to discipline them (pulling weeds in the fields, for example). Just something to add some spice to the game.

9, I'd like to go with you all the next time you're island hopping for ideas for the game (yeah, sure... \:D ).

That's what I can think of at the moment, but I betcha some of this is already going to be seen in VV3. I think the more details of any kind, such as doctor's instruments, clothing accessories, wild animals roaming around just adds to the game. And the more the villagers can interact with any of these things, the more fun it is.

Isn't it a little too early for this topic to be posted? We haven't even seen vv3 yet. I mean, played it. Maybe it would have been better if we've seen the latest game first.
Oh well.
I agree with the above.
Yes, more events, pleeeease!
It would also be nice if villagers could go on hunting trips.
And what about visiting the other islands? That'd be kind of cool, too.
Also, if villagers could set up their own shops, or do some other form of work, that's be great too.

It is early, but people were posting suggestions anyway, so I provided a single place for them to go.

I think the huts should fall apart if they are not maintained.

I find I get bored looking at the computer waiting for tech points and time to pass so I'd like to see more ways for the player to interact, rather than being largely a spectator

-instead of waiting for collectables to appear, actually be able to go and look for them

- puzzles where the player gets to direct villagers to go searching...for example...

...find a way through a maze or jungle
...subscreens where a secondary game or puzzle must be completed
...the ability for villagers to move items to search under them
...being able to actually enter a building or cave to search for clues
...be able to walk up to an item and have the choice to read/open/ignore etc

-Have the option of using tech points to purchase items from ...hmm....a travelling witchdoctor or something (things like a fishing rod / bucket for a well / medicine / different food seeds or fruit etc)

-I would like to see tech points and skills obtained just a little faster (although i guess im not the only one who has found a way around that anyway!)

-As I know nothing about game production I dont know if its possible but facial expressions would be great

-Children to have a more useful role at an earlier age...and once they have been shown how to collect, they then do it for themselves

-I would prefer to see villagers 'partnered' for life. eg. when a boy or girl reach a certain age, and decide that they want a partner, they have to build a dwelling or excavate a small cave to live in, they then need to find a partner and 'court' them for a period, if they accept each other the tribe can hold a 'partnering' celebration for them. couples can then only 'breed' with each other, unless one dies, then they can look for a new partner

-what about 1 tribe that gets separated into 2 by a rock fall. we then need to move from tribe to tribe and in essence have 2 games happening in one. one group could be outside, and the other need to survive inside the volcano, with the ultimate goal being to find a way to reunite them all.

ps...hope you all intend to take a well deserved break before starting on vv4...but its nice to know youre planning another one!! ;\)

I agree with Kristine about the huts. It's really hard to get master builders after all huts and puzzles are completed. Since I haven't seen VV3 yet, I'm just have a few things so far...

1. Have it rain, but don't let it snow. Isola is a tropical island in the Pacific, so I don't think snowing would be practical, but it would be cute.

2. I don't know if this is in VV3, but maybe have a contiuing line of Chiefs, if the Chief is not like the GC and lives forever. And also have a family of the Chief.

3. Prevent inbreeding by ALL means neccesary!!

4. Maybe have villager achives, where every villager since the start of the game will be listed and never forgotten. It could also can keep track of a vilagers' family members, see their acomplishments, ect.

So that's all I have right now.

Can't wait for VV3 and VV4!

I don't know if this has already been covered in VV3, but I think there should be at least a little bit of pregnancy before mothers give birth. Maybe they could have their baby or babies in the hospital, or have a special hut for giving birth.
