What's confusing to me,is the plants have 2 names,and when you say cross this and this and you"ll get this.There has 2 be other ways to achieve the same goal,right?

Each plant's name is two 'names' because the flower (e.g. Bluestar) and the foliage (e.g. Maple) are both important in determining which plants to use for pollination. Cross-pollinating a Bluestar Maranta with a Citrus Maple with produce the exact same seeds as crossing a Citrus Maranta and a Bluestar Maple. That's why most breeding charts have the foliage and the flowers separated so that you can determine which two flower types you need in order to get a specific flower type, and which two foliage types you need to get the foliage you want.
