I've been considering making a video tutorial (or series of videos) on mod making/merging. If I were to try to do this, what topics would you like me to cover? Merging mods would likely get it's own separate short video, so that one's a given. But I want to get everyone else's opinion.
Those of you just getting started in modding, what things would you like to know more about?
Keep in mind that my tutorial will be for GIMP, because I don't have Photoshop or anything else besides GIMP, really. Also, I may not be able to cover everything asked for because of the limitations of my personal modding abilities.
I'm willing to try, though, since this seems to be something a lot of people would like to be able to get their hands on. Sometimes getting to watch someone do something is easier than reading text. smile
Bring on the feedback, people! laugh

What exactly do you want to know about transparency? Just so I don't accidentally forget to explain something and leave out what you were looking for! grin

Wow Krystal, that's a GREAT idea!!!!
I've been trying Lewanda's tutorial, and it got me a lot further in my efforts to mod but still got stuck on several issues in PSP. I can figure it out but it takes a lot of time when you are not very familiar with the program ...
Gimp is a wonderfull free program and it's awesome that you are willing to show us how to work with it in modding laugh

Maybe the basics in modding would do best? Such as:
  • opening and add your maps in different layers in the program so you can mod a whole aria of the game
  • how you adjust the pattern and colors in different layers
  • how to save your seperate maps when you're done
  • transparency, for instance how you change carrying objects, clothes or haircolour
  • how to add a new picture in a map s.a. a plant or something
  • merging different map mods together

You're right: actually seeing how it's done works better, it's the difference between going to school and doing lessons at home wink

Like how to add transparency to the layer to be able to merge it.
Thanks!

Hey, just wanted to let you all know (if you don't already) that the first video tutorial is up and running in the Mods forum. I know I sometimes forget to scroll all that way down to check that forum. smile

It looks awesome! Even with music in it laugh
Thank you soo much for putting this together, I realize it's a lot of work with all the arrow-textscreens in between.

I think there will be very little mod-requests from now on wink

Thank you! I'm glad you like it. It was actually a lot of fun to do, once all the little wrinkles that came up were ironed out. laugh

yes it is!
people can now begin to try a mod themselves and in the proces getting to know gimp a little more, like you've said experimenting will get you there.

ofcourse asking for a mod for any reason still remains way easyer grin
