This just happened to me - I have an adopted girl, changed her name and it didn't change on the family tree.

Her mother is a single mother - maybe when she gets married the name changes?

I have this issue now too. I play 5 families and almost always change each character's name. Never a problem before.

Changed adopted daughter's name this morning but the family tree still shows the name generated by the game.

Her father is like Moonlyght's character - never married. Is that the reason? Very odd.

I am also having this problem, and my parent is also a single parent. It's really irritating because all my kids this generation should have C names.

You just get away from the game a bit, maybe retsart the computer, worked for me.

I tried to restart my computer just now, but it did not fix the bug for me. I have the .05 version and never had any of the earlier versions. The girl I adopted is to a single father who has not married yet (holding out for a perfect match). Her brother was adopted shortly afterward and his name changed just fine on the family tree.

For the girl her name shows up in game as Minerva, but the family tree continues to show her as Margetta. I'd be happy to email the developers any of my game files, if that would help them to track down this elusive bug.

Edit to Add: I backed up my saved game files and then had the father accept a proposal. When he did and the woman appeared, the daughter's name was still bugged, but then when I went back to the details screen and reentered the name, it did show up properly on the family tree finally. I wasn't ready for him to marry yet though, so I restored my backup files which has the bug. For my game anyway, it does seemed to be tied to the first adopted child of a single parent and was fixed when the parent married.
