Would I be able to make a part two of my story, or would that not be allowed?

As explained, this does not affect current stories. While I would encourage trying to "wrap up" any lengthy stories in progress, We are not requiring it at this point. I would rather not see stories broken into parts. I would encourage sequels to completed stories, but no, we don't want to see the story of xx part 1; part 2 etc, as an attempt to get around the limit. It would be better if you try to write longer, more concise chapters.

My dear friends, I must tell you that as I was looking for a job for a long time and, at least I got it!! And I begin working tomorrow morning!

So, I must tell you that there is little possibility that I'll not comment your stories every days. Especially when the new game will come out!!

But don't worry, I'll read them and I'll try to be on the forum each evening!

Hmm, maybe i am kindof lengthy in my stories, but i do not like the limit of 30 days, so perhaps could ldw send the story to their email or something, or perhaps maybe an archive of old stories, because i love my stories. anyway, ty ldw for everything, and GOOD LUCK WITH VV4, cannot wait for it to be finished, in fact, my little bro asks me to go check on it's progress like, every minute of the day. catch ya all later!

We certainly want to encourage authors to write stories. The 30 day limit is not how long you have to finish a story, it is just that you must post a new chapter at least once every 30 days.

It has been our experience that if authors don't post a new chapter every 2 or 3 weeks, the fans tend to rapidly lose interest in the story. After 3 to 4 weeks, the authors themselves lose interest and the stories languish unfinished.

In the old forum, there were literally dozens of unfinished stories, many of which had been there for over a year. When we set down to revamp the forum, we decided to impose a few rules to help both the authors and the fans.

The 3 basic rules to encourage both finishing stories, and to keep fan interest are:

• An author can only have 3 stories in progress at a time.
• An author must post a new chapter at least once every 30 days.
• Stories are limited to 30 chapters (replies).

Hi, Again. Sorry for replying so late, but I would just like to kind of clear things up. As for you, Rockmower, I do see your point in how stories that remain unfinished just begin to have less interest in them, and then when that happens, they can clutter up the page. also, I am finally after some time, beginning to accept the new "rules and regulations," yada, yada, yada, and as such, I am leaving this topic, because it provides no further use to me until I write another story.

When a story is finished, you should put something like "The End." in it. Once I see that it is concluded, it will be locked, and preserved in the forum. The comments thread will usually remain active for 2 months after a story is concluded, then be deleted. (Note: I'm not real punctual about pruning the comments sub forum, so it may remain active for considerably longer).

When we first revamped the Fan Fiction Forum in late 2008, we had intended to only keep them preserved for about 6 months. At the end of that time, we would preserve the "Best of the Best" in another sub forum. However, at this time the volume of stories being submitted and completed, is low enough that we haven't had to resort to that. That's not to say it may not happen in the future, but for now all completed stories will be preserved in the main forum for an indeterminate amount of time.

So...I am making a new story, and I plan to make it go for at least 30 chapters. So my question is this; if I have not completed my story to what I feel is it and my full potential, am I allowed to make a sequel that will be linked in the final chapter of the first story prior to it's completion?

You may, but I would advise you to use caution in this approach. I would only recommend it if you are still receiving a lot of fan support at the end of your first story.

Remember, that people can "burn out" even on the really good stories. That's one of the reasons the 30 post limit was imposed to begin with.

I can, and have, made exceptions to the 30 post rule. It's pretty rare, but if a story is really deserving; is drawing a lot of fan support; and the author can tell me about how many more posts they need to wrap it up, I will consider it.

You may post no more than 1 picture; graphic; or small screen shot in each chapter of a story (limit of 3 total per story).

You may post as many as you like (up to the forum limit of 5 per post) in Fan Fiction. If you post story related pictures in fan fiction, the text is limited to a brief description of the picture.
