So I will post interesting talks that happen during the most important game conference of the year (happening this week in San Francisco) especially where we are mentioned. Here is the first interesting one from Steve Meretzky(The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Zoo Tycoon) on Casual Games: Steve Meretzky on Casual Games If you look at the slides of his talk, you can see Virtual Villagers!!

As a fan of HHGTTG I thought, "There's a game of it? Cool!" I searched for it and turned up this Wikipedia article. To my dismay I found that it was written for the Apple II back in 1984!

I guess I didn't understand this part: Disadvantages include confusing the press (if you can’t quantify it, you can’t score it), and potentially catering to a tremendous, if loyal, niche. Doesn't this site represent a tremendous & loyal niche of the gaming community? I realize that "we" are a blend of core and casual gamers (I have everything from solitaire to Age Of Empires with every available expansion pack) and tons of stuff in between. Still, I deeply enjoy the VV series and constantly reccomend it to friends and family. Oh well, I guess I don't have to understand a Brain like Arthurs to enjoy it's creative output!

LOL release dates never seem to come soon enough ;-)
am currently suffering from the presimsep syndrome as well as prevv3itis hehhee have found myself in an almost constant state of either replaying the previous 2 vv's or playing bon voyage or checking amazon to see if my copy of freetime has shipped. the ironic thing is after i get the free time EP i will no longer have free time because i will be to busy playing. hopefully it will help keep me occupied and therefore reduce my prevv3itis.

The progress stalled a little bit, because Arthur was first at a conference in Amsterdam and then at the GDC in San Francisco....things are speeding up again now. Will update the progress bar soon.

Correct me if i'm wrong, Rocky.. but I believe he means it is disadvantageous to CATER to a niche, and thus alienate any other possible audience.. no matter how loyal your niche may be. and yes! We are a VERY loyal niche! So, I guess we can't be expecting any catered parties this year..
